Holistic Doula Support
Through teaching pregnancy yoga I discovered my passion for helping women in this precious time in life. It is not only to prepare their bodies for labour but also working on an emotional level to release fears and anxieties by recognising and allowing them, and learning not to identify with these thoughts and emotions. I realised how important it is for pregnant women to develop trust in their brithing bodies and I wanted to support them in labour and beyond. This is why I decided to do Doula training. I studied with DONA International and Mama Bamba here in Cape Town.
For me it is the greatest gift to share these special moments with parents and to be abled to enhance the parents birth experience. I have an holisitc approach, integrating the body, the mind and the spirit which will help you to stay connected with your self not only in daily life but also during your pregnancy and in labour.
What is a doula?
The word “doula” comes from the ancient Greek meaning “a woman who serves” and is now used to refer to a trained and experienced professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to the mother before, during and just after birth.
Studies have shown that when doulas attend birth, labors are shorter with fewer complications and medical interventions, babies are healthier and they breastfeed more easily.
